21 Half-Cooked Schemes That Didn't Pan Out
22-year-old Rasshauud Scott was shot and killed by Jesus Vargas back in January, when Vargas saw him attempting to rob two men at a gas station. Vargas initially fled the scene, fearful that his probationary status could be in jeopardy, but he did so thinking that he had just saved the two men. In reality, Scott was staging a fake robbery in exchange for money, to help the two "victims" gain visas.
U-Visas are granted to victims of certain crimes to help law enforcement solve the crime, and grant "the victim temporary immigration status, including work authorization; temporary immigration status for qualifying family members of the victim; and the possibility of lawful permanent resident status," according to Fox 26. The men had already staged other "crimes" to partial U-Visa success, and the man who organized the plot, William X Winfrey, has now been charged with murder.
That was objectively not the greatest plan, and it failed tragically. See that, and other poorly schemed criminal plots that didn't pan out right here.
